Gers,

335 inhabitants for 630 000 hectares, Gers is one of the least populated
departments in France. Its density (28 inhabitants/km²) places
it in the 5th national position.
It also is
one of the most rural departments in our country, with 66% of rural
population (4th position after the Creuze, the Lozère and the
Lot departments).
It is one
of the most agricultural departments: its farm working population rate
(25%) is actually the highest one in France before Creuze and Lozère.
It is finally
one of the 10 French departments which exceed 75% of Agricultural Working
Surface.
Its operating
gross revenue (2 109 million francs) places Gers at the 16th national
rank.
