Armagnac seneschalsy, Lectoure presidial, royal and seigneurial justices

Series (Provincial authorities before 1790): collections of Auch
administration; records with copies of the letters from Administrator
d'Etigny; community cadastres; road maps, lanes, bridges, buildings
(Auch City Hall, Administration); deed control (recordings prior to
the Revolution).

Series D (Public education, sciences and arts): Jesuit ancient
college of Auch; Royal Society of Agriculture (1760 - 1789).

Series (Secular clergy): collection of the Auch Saint-Mary's cathedral
chapter. Beautiful series of chartularies: black chartulary (13th
century): on parchment, copy of 121 deeds dating from 817 to the second
half of the 13th century; 1st white chartulary (14th century); on
parchment, copy of deeds dating from 817 to the end of the 13th century;
second white chartulary (14th century): on parchment, copy of 13th-15th
century deeds; red chartulary (15th century): on parchment, copy of
13th-15th century deeds; green chartulary (15th century): copy of
14th-15th century deeds.

Series (feudality, communes, notaries, families, from the 13th
to the 20th century) distributed into several subseries:
E (feudality, families);
E additional (commune registered records - approximately 360
communes out of 464).
Important communes: Auch, L'Isle-Jourdain, Nogaro, Vic-Fezensac.
3 E (notaries from the 16th to the 19th century).
5 E (parish and registry office records, from the 16th to the 19th
century).

Series (miscellaneous private documents): documents from scholars,
Alphonse Branet, Abbot Bourgeat, Philippe Lauzun.

and I additional Series (collection of the Great seminar of Auch):
the Vergès collection, approximately
20 000 pieces, contains the most ancient document in the departmental public
records in the form of originals (end of the 11th century), concerning the
abbey of Beaulieu-en-Rouergue.
Other remarkable documents: the chartulary of the abbey of Berdoues (13th
century), several autographs, among which the one of Blaise de Monluc.

4 - Iconographic collections
Maps and plans: beautiful maps of the Ancien Régime, maps of
Cassini, canton atlases, canton Civil Engineering atlases; postcards,
other iconographic documents, microfilms and microfiches.
5 - Library, Newspapers and periodical publications
Over 10 000 volumes, among which an ancient collection: dictionaries
(Bayle, La Martinière, Expilly...), Gallia Christiana, Acta Sactorum,
Bullary, customary, Nobiliary, Genealogy records.
Main centres of interest: general history (Ancient civilizations, the
Middle Ages, the 16th century, the Ancien Régime, the Revolution,
the First Empire, the 19th century, the Second World War, well represented);
local history, regional literature, Occitan literature, Gascon linguistics,
history of art, law.
Annex Libraries: law collection, Baché collection (varia), the
Pandellé collection (theology, religious history), Encyclopaedia
Diderot and D'Alembert (ed. In-4°), the lycée of Auch library
collection, the Castarède collection (printed matter collection).
Newspaper collections from the Revolution until nowadays, national
and local periodical publications.
6 - Data records
Archaeological records (per commune), biographical records, records
by subject category (a valuable set of records and newspaper cuttings;
for example a nearly daily event coverage during the war in Indochina
and in Algeria.
7 - Hospital records
Collections from Auch hospital and from Condom hospitals (very rich
collection, although incomplete); concerns particularly the history
of Protestantism (Layrac consistory deeds and christenings, weddings
and burials, 1578 - 1674).
8 - Files
Important set of bio-bibliographic files, of topo-bibliographic files,
of onomastic files, a French-Gascon dictionary, Gascony's Armorial,
files by subject category.
